Your hardware choice should depend on:
- the number of computers using your broadband connection;
- whether you want the freedom of wireless access (work from anywhere in the house);
- whether there is anything on your line that might interrupt the connection (eg: a burglar alarm - see filters); and
- how long you'll be staying with us (hardware discounts are available on a 24 month agreement).

ADSL hardware
ADSL2 and ADSL2+
ADSL2, ADSL2+ and reach-extended ADSL2 (RE-ADSL2) provide better speeds, longer distance coverage, and reduced power consumption while maintaining ADSL's always-on functionality. The following hardware is compatible with ADSL2/2+ and will allow you to take advantage of the fastest broadband speeds possible on broadband2+.
Our ADSL hardware is shipped with the latest firmware preloaded, but we recommend checking the manufacturer's website for firmware updates every few months after your initial purchase to ensure you're running the most recent version. Firmware is a set of instructions that defines how the ADSL hardware works. It is always a good idea to run the latest firmware for your ADSL modem/router.
With VoIP
VoIP stands for 'Voice over Internet Protocol.' Hardware with VoIP functionality means that you can plug a standard phone into the modem or router to make phone calls over the Internet to anyone, anywhere. Check out our VOIP service.
